This game was made in two weeks for the Text-Based Jam! It took a total of 90 hours to create.

Dyle is an text-based, hard-as-nails platformer, where you'll jump, land, and boost. The game is made completely of ASCII characters that will bring you into a world harking back to the retro days of text-based games.

In this game you will die... a lot. So prepare to have your heart crushed quite often by the blood pumping gameplay and custom-made soundtrack.

Just when you think you might give up, don't! You will NOT regret getting to the end. Trust me.

This game was made for a game jam, so it's not the most high quality game in the world. I plan to come back to this sometime and flesh out the game more to possibly release it someday. So think about this as more of a demo than anything.

Good luck... and don't rage!

This game has controller support for DirectInput and XInput, meaning it will work with almost all controllers.

KEYBOARD CONTROLS:

A, Left-Arrow: Move left

D, Right-Arrow: Move right

W, Space, Up-Arrow: Jump

S, Down-Arrow: Land

Shift + Jump: Boost

Here is the source code if anyone is interested. It's really bad so don't look at it. Some people just wanted to make their own levels: https://github.com/JakeTheFromStateDog/Dyle-Classic/tree/master

I can't land those moving platforms!!

Oh, I just figured out the mechanic. Nasty.

The level wherein you fall right into the spikes was so abusive that I stopped playing right after I finished it. I would recommend save slots and maybe a farsighted camera. Thanks for aggravating my migraine. Four stars out of five.

Sorry about the migraine, but I'm glad you seem to be having fun! I added in the save slots like you suggested. Thanks for that suggestion!

You're good, bro. Thanks for keeping an open mind, as always. And I enjoyed the music, too. No vocoder, though, I noticed.
